John Wheatley, ARA

1892-1955

The Rock Pool, c.1915

Ref: 2157

Signed l.r.: John Wheatley

Oil on panel, 28 by 43 cm

Provenance: Michael Whitehall; with Liss Fine Art

Wheatley was a student at the Slade during its golden age under Henry Tonks and Philip Wilson Steer, Like many other students he was influenced by the work being painted by Augustus John and his circle at around the same date. This resonates strongly in this fine plein-air study.
