A Winding Road Through a Valley

Ref: 2445

Oil on canvas, 40 by 49.75 cm

Sanderson and his wife Greta Ward exhibited attractively graphic and bucolic rural scenes in the middle part  of the twentieth century exhibiting them to great success at the Royal Academy, the New English Art Club and elsewhere. They are influenced by wood engraving and poster design of the period and recall the work of his near contemporary Ethelbert White. A retrospective of Sanderson’s work was held at Blond Fine Art in the mid 1970s.
