Southall and his wife visited Treviso in May 1934. A diary note in a sketchbook labelled “3A Venice” (previously in the Harlock Collection) records a day in the town on 8th May 1934: “Treviso. Wonderful little Museo Civico (sic). Grand picture of Vincenzo della Destri in beautiful condition. Glorious frescos from Modena. Bellini cleaned. Old Duomo – beautiful pictures by Girolamo da Treviso quite untouched glowing golden. Fine frescos by Pordenone.”
