In her book The Art of Dora Carrington (see literature above) Jane Hill describes Carrington's intense process of creating sketches and drawings: "leaf upon leaf is captured with rapid notations of thought. Sketches of arrested moments or people engaging with one another, which invite us into the intimacy of the scene... (including) a firelit scene, his bear-like companion Boris Anrep, who sits plumply back and listens to what he has to say."
