Peter Nutall

1943-2011

Abstract Vignettes

Ref: 655

Signed and dated l.l.: Peter Nuttall/72

Watercolour over pen and ink, (41 by 35.5 cm)

Nuttall was a Cambridge painter and sculptor whose work is characteristic in its distinctively surrealist approach to abstraction. He trained at Maidstone School of Art under Elisabeth Frink and is represented in the collection of Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge. As well as exhibiting through commercial galleries, Nutall made entrepreneurial use of his presence in a university town, selling many of his works by simply knocking on student's college rooms in a door-to-door fashion.
