Uwins regularly contributed Shakespeare subjects as Royal Academy and British Institution exhibits in the early decades of the nineteenth century. They were also regular subjects of The Sketching Societyformed by J.J. and A.E.Chalon and of which Uwins was a leading member. The visionary quality in the present work also shows something of the influence of J.H.Fuseli, of whom Uwins was an admirer.
