Walter Ernest Harlock (1866-1951) was the third son of John Harlock and Anne Baker, therefore first cousin to both Joseph and Bessie Southall.  Born in Banbury, he studied at Manchester and London Universities before taking a professorship as a lecturer in English at Uppsala University and at the Royal Swedish Naval College in Stockholm where he remained until his retirement.  A noted, lexicographer, he published Swensk-Engelsk Ordbok (Swedish-English Dictionary) in 1904 and a larger revised edition in 1936.  In Sweden he was awarded the order of North Star.
