Punch and Judy, no.3

Ref: 2695

Boswell was fascinated by subject matter from the Italian Commedia dell ‘Arte. Punch and Judy in particular feature in a number of works, the artist perhaps being attracted to the essential violence of these two characters. It is perhaps no coincidence that Boswell’s depictions of the subject date from the final year of the Second World War.
